Last July, we had games of TFC every week. They were exciting. The turnout was usually great. Some days, the server was packed, and it felt like old times. Bunny rockets were flying. Scouts were running around aimlessly with crowbars. There were explosions, and gunshots, and flags thrown… it felt like old times.
Earlier in the year this time around, we’re re-introducing TFC Tuesdays! Join us every Tuesday night at 8 PM Eastern time for a delicious game of a classic staple of the shoot-the-crap-out-of-things genre, TEAM FORTESS CLASSIC!
Hi everyone. As most of you know, we’re celebrating the Holidays this year this Tuesday, December 11th, 2012, on our regular TFC server. The event will begin at 8 PM eastern time.
We to plan to play a few winter maps, including xmaswell3, our version of 2fort in winter, and of course, ta_killclause.
We hope to see all of you there. It’ll be nice to catch up. Please let anyone who may be interested know. Happy holidays, everybody!
Today’s deal is definitely Batman: Arkham City, Game of the Year Edition. It has a 91 metascore, and got a great review by our own Psychedelic Snake previously, too. And it’s only $7.49. I’m very likely buying it myself, and already own the previous game, Arkham Asylum, which is also quite great.
Dishonored is also on sale for 50% off, which is a great cut for a new game. It’s also gotten great reviews, and this is likely the lowest price we’ll see for it in a while. Torchlight II is another popular game for only $10, and seems a bit like the Diablo game series from what I’ve seen.
That’s about it for today’s deals. Also keep an eye on the Flash deals. I think this is about the last of the deals that will come up, as it all ends tomorrow. Hope everyone’s having a good weekend.
Also, to celebrate the upcoming Holidays, we’re organizing a Holiday Bash sometime in December, and we need your input! Let us know what days, times, maps, addons you want to see, and we’ll see what we can make happen.
It’s day three. It’s not Thanksgiving or Black Friday, so the weekend is waning in excitement. So are the sales. Mark of the Ninja and Deus Ex both got pretty good reviews. Ninja is a 2d stealth game, I think. Deus Ex is a future apocalyptic type scifi game. I suppose Borderlands 2 would be the big game on sale right now, but it’s still $30. I haven’t played it, and though I own Borderlands, I don’t play it much. Some people really like the games, so it’s probably cheaper right now than it will be for the next few months.
The good deals seem to be the flash sales. Personally I’m hoping that Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year, or Dishonored will get cheaper with a limited time flash sale before this is over, but I’m sincerely doubting that will happen now.
The Autumn Sale on Steam reaches day two. I think the “Today’s Deals” are lacking, but the top choice would probably be Portal 2 for $5. If you haven’t played it yet, it’s thought-provoking and fun and mixes a whole lot of great science humor in, too. It’s definitely worth the bucks. I recommend. Other popular games like Arma II, Prototype 2 and Max Payne 3 are all on sale for under $20, and might be your thing. So, check those out.
I’m thinking that tomorrow (Black Friday) might be the highlight of this sale? We’ll see.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! I hope everyone’s having a great one. I appreciate the community we’ve built over the years, and though things are slow-going now, I look forward to playing more with you all in the future. Have a safe one.
Hi everyone. I apologize I’ve been on pretty irregularly lately. As some of you know, I got 2 new jobs recently and other responsibilities that use up some of my resources. I still enjoy playing games with all of you, though, and I hope to get some pickup TFC games going in the coming weeks.
Steam’s doing a new Autumn sale, so I figured I’d point out it’s the same idea as the Summer sale. New deals every day, and flash sales that last a few hours too.
Of the flash sales right now, I own two. Payday, which I recommend. It’s a solid cooperative game where you rob banks in masks. The missions vary pretty widely, and it’s fun for an hour at a time. It’s worth the $5 it’s on sale for now.
I also own Limbo, a side-scrolling puzzle type of game. It has an eerie atmosphere about it. You’re a young boy running through a stark black and white world. There’s a lot of environmental dangers like cliffs, jumps, and bear traps… and enemies, like a pair of mutilated kids trying to set traps to kill you, or a giant, deadly spider that appears out of the darkness semi-randomly. It’s under $3 right now.
I’ve been told the Amazing Spider-Man game is good, but I haven’t played it. It might be worth looking into, though, if you’re a fan of the comics or the movie. It’s 50% off right now at $25.
Dishonored is the game I’m mostly looking forward to. I might buy it for the 25% off that it’s at right now, but I doubt it. Likely, I’ll wait until it gets older and cheaper, because I am old and cheap, too. It’s at $45 right now, but still it’s tempting. It’s gotten rave reviews since it came out, and the conceit of a supernatural assassin using blades, guns and superpowers to stealthily kill bad guys in a steampunk world is pretty unique and gripping.
Left4Dead2 is free to play this weekend, starting right now. So, if you don’t have the game, I highly highly recommend you give it a shot. You have absolutely nothing to lose. If you need more persuasion, I wrote a review for it a while ago right here.
The game is all about communication and team work in a zombie apocalypse. You stick together and use guns and pointy objects to shoot and slash hordes of zombies, as well as “special” mutated zombies that can incapacitate you. There’s a few tips for surviving L4D as a rookie right here on the official game site. You’ll have friendly company to play with if you decide to try it, though… myself, Pike, Girl_on_the_Loose, Steph, Ace01, Madame Rikki, Fetus, and others all have the game.
So far, I know at least jawn is trying it out. You should too.
